The Roemishe
Stadtmauer, an ancient wall, is Wiesbaden's oldest construction from Roman
times and is found next to the Roemisches Tor (Roman gateway). The
Roman wall symbolizes the earliest period in Wiesbaden's history.
The settlement was first mentioned in Roman documents as a military camp
around 40 A.D. This surrounded the camp. There is also a wood
and stone bridge here that has been rebuilt many times.
