The Marktkirche
is a Wiesbaden landmark with its tower being the highest point of the city.
It is 270 feet high. This Protestant church was built of red brick
in Gothic style in 1852. It is open to the public every day except
Monday from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Free organ concerts are held there
every Saturday morning at 11:30 AM.
Recently, the
brick of the building has shown signs of pollution and it is being cleaned.
The main entrance of the church has beautifully carved brick and there
are life size marble figures of the four disciples inside near the altar.
The interior is painted in soft colors and the rose window has beautiful
stained glass. |
