Our friend "EAST"

East belonged to Mr. Lenz, our former principal.  She came to our school with him everyday.  She knew the students and would follow Mr. Lenz to all the classrooms.  We even had her birthday party for her each year out on the playground.  She would wear her birthday hat. All of us would sing "Happy Birthday". Our students got to know her well and she became our mascot.   She lived until the age of 15 years old and she died in 1991.   East is still missed and still remembered.
