What Does a Kindergarten Classroom Look Like?

A classroom looks like:
centers can be seen around the room and may include the following: 

  • Block Center, Dramatic Play Center, Math/Science Center, Table Toys Center, Library, Writing Center, Cooking Area, Computer Center, Woodworking Area, and the Outdoors 
  • centers are set up with baskets or tubs of  learning materials
  • children are actively learning and able to touch almost everything in each center
  • materials are labeled so that children can put things away on their own
  • children's artwork, lists, labels, and writing are displayed at eye-level
  • literature is available at each center
  • multicultural pictures, books, and materials are seen throughout
  • interactions between adults and children and children and children are positive and focused
