Hainerberg Information Center, one of the largest in Germany, is the size of eight classrooms.  It contains over 15,000 items which includes books, videos, reference materials, models, professional items, CDs, computer programs and magazines.

The Information Center is open from 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM every day for students, staff members and parents.   On Wednesdays, we are open until 5:00 PM for the Family Reading Program. The media center is open to all students in grades 1-5 throughout the day.  Students may come individually or in small groups to exchange books, do research and to use the computers.  The Sure Start students, pre-schoolers, and kindergartners come to the media center as a class on a weekly basis to exchange books.  Information and research skills are taught in coordination with classroom teachers and in conjunction with the curriculum.

The media center is automated with 4 (OPAC Explorer) workstations set aside to search for materials available in our collection.  In addition, 15 computer workstations are available for research, word processing, and a variety of educational games and stories.   These computers have Internet capability and are available to parents and students who have signed the Internet Access Agreement Form.  A filter is in place in all DoDEA schools and internet usage is monitored at all times by media personnel.  A scanner and several digital cameras are also available in the library.
